O Christmas Tree

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Grandpa came to visit and so we put him to work. We went to a tree farm to cut down a tree (we are hoping next year when dad is home to do the full Griswold experience in the woods!) It took us forever to find the perfect one but I think we did it. I haven't taken any pics of it up and decorated but those will follow soon. Here is our (really cold) day at the farm!

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

We went to a play place that they have on post today. It really is a great place that we need to visit more often.

The boys were obsessed with the mirrors. Boyce was trying to figure it out and Gage, well, he just licked them!

Ballet (the t is silent)

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Karmen just finished a ten week Ballet class. It started as a thing for her to do while Manuel was taking guitar lessons, but I really think she liked it. I discovered that she really does know how to listen to directions! She didn't do so well at learning the french words but I think she now really believes me that it is Ball-ay not Ball-et!

Paying attention like always!
I was trying to get a good mirror picture from where we were seated.

Birthdays, Basketball and Boxes

Monday, November 16, 2009

Karmen's 10th birthday was this past week. We celebrated by having a girl's night out at Olive Garden and a hair cut. (thanks to my awesome neighbor!) We then came home and had cake and ice cream and opened presents.

The Cake!
We ate way too much!!!

Gage pretty much thought it was his birthday, Karmen was nice enough to let him help blow out the candles and try on her new clothes.
We started our basketball season last week. I had the kids be on the same team to make my life a little easier. They tied their first game and won the second game by a point. I'll take some video next time.

Gage and Boyce did a good job of watching from the bleachers. Two and a half hours is a long time to be at basketball!
Manuel had a pretty even match up when it came to guarding!
Sitting with the team. He liked to walk behind them and tell them what number was on the back of their shirts.
We love boxes here at our house. They are the best toys ever. Here we are making a train. We put all of Gage's "friends" in the middle box.

Karmen's new room

I know you have no idea what it started out as, but lets just say she has had the same decor since she was six. I had wanted to redo her room since we moved in but hadn't had the chance and thought it would be a perfect birthday present. So, I pulled out the sewing machine and got to work. I made her curtains, pillow, and framed art out of a tablecloth I had gotten at Target a long time ago. I have a few more pillows to make and need something else to put on her wall by the lamp but then it is set. We also gave her a reading nook so she could have a place to read. Her lamp came from Aunt Annelorre and went perfect in her new place.

Gymnastics for Gage

We have a found a place where Gage can be Gage! He runs around crazy for the entire thirty minutes and then somewhat participates in the parachute at the end!

Crayon Roll

Sunday, October 18, 2009

We had a two-year-old's birthday to go to this weekend. I wanted to make him something that was somewhat age appropriate so I did some online research and found a crayon roll. So here is my take on it for a boy who's name begins with W.

Murphy's Law

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

So, recently a friend stopped by and was curious about my decision to let Gage use markers. He does a great job, I said. We've really reinforced the whole "you only draw on paper" concept and he sits at his little table and colors in his coloring books or draws snakes on paper. Apparently Boyce looks a lot like Handy Manny or something because this is what I walked in on after going to the bathroom

Notice his pajamas also got quite the coloring. His head was also covered in blue but it was hard to get a good picture of it. Needless to say, we are now back to using Color Wonder Markers.

Trash to Treasure

Friday, September 25, 2009

We've been accumulating a lot of other people's trash lately...a tricycle, slide, basketball goal, a bunch of little people's toys which Gage and Boyce have been having a lot of fun with. But the best trash of all has been an empty diaper box. They think that it is a ton of fun. Gage wishes that Boyce would sit down more but Boyce just likes standing up in it.
